As you know, you are the newly hired HR Manager for Columbus Custom Carpentry (CCC). Our CEO, Anthony Cooney, asked you to prepare a preliminary report regarding the compensation structure for the Warehouse and Manufacturing Departments. You conducted a job analysis and outlined the revisions you proposed in your Week 4 preliminary memo. Now you need to turn that preliminary report into a specific proposal regarding pay for the employees in these 2 departments. You should consider all of the materials you have already been using, along with the job value analysis you prepared, including the external market data provided to you in the CCC spreadsheet. Relevant facts and data that will put the problem and your proposed solution into context. This section should include current status of pertinent jobs and their pay, your internal consistency analysis, as well as relevant external data (the market rate data given to you) and considered when formulating your proposal. Avoid the urge to insert and explain your proposed changes and rationale here. Save that discussion for the appropriate sections of the memo. 3. Proposed changes to jobs and compensation structure. Keep those discussions in their appropriate sections. 4. Rationale for your proposal. In this section, explain to the president the rationale behind each key feature of your proposal. Tie your proposed changes to resolving the specific problems cited in your introduction. You must also be candid about potential challenges the company will face, as a result of your proposal. Suggest solutions for minimizing the negative impact. 5. Finally, your rationale section should include a plan for implementing your proposal for new and existing employees. Consider how your changes will apply to existing employee pay? Are you suggesting immediate changes? Phased in changes? What is your timeframe?
